Our bespoke leadership programmes and courses reflect the growing need to develop our current and future leaders in sport.

Leadership is an area that can make or break individuals, teams or clubs. When it is done well we see thriving, enthusiastic and totally committed individuals and teams. When leadership is poor or non-existent then we experience negativity, lack of personal and group ownership and often toxic relationships and attitudes.

Done well we see success, done poorly we regularly see failure.

Recent research shows that the most successful organisations put leadership training right at the top of their agenda in their search for success and improvement.

Leadership skills and understanding is not something that just happens. They have to be learnt as soon as people become involved in a working environment, whether it is in industry, commerce or sport.

That is why we at UK Sports Management Limited believe strongly that in football all employees should not only learn, understand and practice leadership but be challenged to display it throughout the organisation in which they work.

We have 3 core beliefs:

• Young players need to be challenged to become leaders from the moment they become involved in a football club in order to understand initially what good leadership looks like and then use their experiences and understanding to develop the confidence to put their knowledge and skills into practice on the field.
• Outstanding leadership should not just be about players, managers and coaches, but should be at the heart of every football club. It should be evident at every level of the organisation whether it is at boardroom level, player level and include every aspect of the administration and support areas of the club. In other words, everyone involved in the football cub should receive leadership training in order to become effective in what they do.
• That outstanding leadership pervades the organisation and is treated as the norm. It is the bedrock of the club and defines the clubs ethos and practice.
